Uniwersytet Łódzki w konsorcjum na rzecz humanistyki!

The University of Lodz joined a scientific consortium aimed at implementing the project "OPERAS-PL – Polish infrastructure for open scientific communication for the humanities and social sciences" at the turn of 2024 and 2025.

The project is a part of the European Roadmap for Research Infrastructures, European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI). The consortium submitted an application to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for OPERAS-PL to be entered on the Polish Roadmap for Research Infrastructure in January of the currenyt year.

The Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, as an institution that is a member of the OPERAS network, plays the role of the leader, while the consortium in addition to the University of Lodz includes: the Digital Center, the National Information Processing Institute, the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences – Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the University of Silesia in Katowice and the University of Warsaw.

The consortium activities will not only enable Poland to participate more actively in the OPERAS initiative but will also provide an opportunity to gain real influence on improving infrastructure and scientific communication in the field of humanities and social sciences in Europe – especially important in the context of the dynamic development of digital humanities.

OPERAS is the Research Infrastructure supporting open scholarly communication in the social sciences and humanities (SSH) in the European Research Area. The consortium members co-create research infrastructure for the humanities and social sciences, and by joining forces, they can apply for grants in international and national competitions. The national branch of OPERAS has been coordinated by the Digital Humanities Centre at the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences since 2021.
